Frankfort and Keyser are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Golden Tornado at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Frankfort is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Frankfort proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 12) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against South Harrison, sneaking past 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since April 9th.
Lanson Orndorf was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Jacob Nething was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Keyser was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against Northern Garrett, falling 16-6.
Landon Tysinger made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lucas Davy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Frankfort pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.3 runs this season. As for Keyser, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
Frankfort skirted past Keyser 6-5 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
