Polytechnic hasn't had much luck against Providence recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will face off against the Pioneers at 3:15 p.m. Polytechnic has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Polytechnic came up short against Flintridge Sacred Heart on Wednesday, falling 14-4. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brynn Connolly made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Olivia Asper De Tyson also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Providence waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Cubs. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Madelynn Watts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Providence let Mia Allinson and Gloria Galindo run wild. Allinson went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs, while Galindo went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Allinson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evangelina Aleman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Providence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive contests.
Providence's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Polytechnic, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Polytechnic hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Providence struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Polytechnic might still be hurting after the 18-5 loss they got from Providence in their previous matchup on Thursday. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
