Football Recap: Lawrence Central Keeps Edwardsville's Under Pressure

Lawrence Central won the last time they faced Edwardsville, and Santana Allen did his part to make sure it happened again. The Bears simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Tigers 61-21 thanks in part to Allen, who threw for 287 yards and six TDs while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 82 yards on only five carries. Allen is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season.

Lawrence Central's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Edwardsville's side was Lawrence Skelton, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

The victory made it two in a row for Lawrence Central and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points over those games. As for Edwardsville, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Lawrence Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 31-21 loss against Warren Central on the 12th. As for Edwardsville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 33-28 defeat against Jackson on the 12th.
