Baseball Recap: North Pike Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

North Pike barely beat Franklin County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 14-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Jaguars have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

North Pike let Ty Jones and Peyton McGehee run wild. Jones went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while McGehee scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave McGehee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leyton Henagan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

North Pike always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin County only posted an OBP of .294.

The victory (which was North Pike's third in a row) raised their record to 16-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.

North Pike will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
