The Soledad Aztecs waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Monte Vista Christian by a score of 63-53. That's another feather in the cap for Soledad, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Soledad got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Pedro Morales Jr out in front who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anikan Tavarez, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Monte Vista Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nico Downie, who scored 19 points. Jack Ryan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Soledad has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season. As for Monte Vista Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
Soledad will head out on the road to challenge North Salinas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Salinas is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Monte Vista Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Greenfield at 7:00 p.m.
