Softball Recap: Spring Lake Wins Going Away Against Ludington

While Spring Lake put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Ludington. The Lakers were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Orioles. The win continues a trend for the Lakers in their matchups with the Orioles: they've now won three in a row.

Khloe Melinn made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Tessa Britt was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Cheyenne Lyons was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Spring Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Spring Lake now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Ludington, their defeat was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Lake will take on Unity Christian at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Lakers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ludington, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hart at 7:00 p.m.
