After flying high against Whitewater last Thursday, McIntosh came back down to earth. The Chiefs fell just short of the Woodward Academy War Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Chiefs' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
McIntosh actually scored more points across those five sets (103-93), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 7-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-21, 15-9.
Claudia Meditz paced McIntosh's offense, picking up 20 kills. Meditz got some help from Baylee Tanton and her 20 assists. Meditz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Woodward Academy found their leader in sophomore Lotus Jiroch, who had 13 digs and eight assists. Sydney Harrison also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
McIntosh's loss dropped their record down to 34-9. As for Woodward Academy, they pushed their record up to 31-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
