Kate Murray and Frankie Jackson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Murray tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jackson didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Murray got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Jackson went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Murray a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brooke Clayton and Hailey Kinder did most of the damage at the plate: Clayton went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Kinder went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave Kinder a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Shockley, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Fishers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Franklin Central faced Roncalli in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Flashes skirted past the Royals 5-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Flashes, who have now won six contests in a row.
Kiley Renick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Jadyn Tinsley was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of August Coons, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.
Franklin Central pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fishers, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fishers hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Franklin Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .397. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
