Medicine Lodge is 0-6 against Conway Springs since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Medicine Lodge Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Conway Springs Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Medicine Lodge comes in on seven and Conway Springs on nine.
Medicine Lodge had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took down Valley Heights 48-30 on Friday.
Keveon Ruiz had a dynamite game for Medicine Lodge, rushing for 75 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Derrek Randels was in the mix too, providing Medicine Lodge with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Conway Springs beat Marion 28-20 on Friday.
Brayden Kunz was his usual excellent self, rushing for 194 yards and four touchdowns. Kunz has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last ten times he's played.
Medicine Lodge's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.3 points per game. As for Conway Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Medicine Lodge came up short against Conway Springs in their previous matchup back in September, falling 40-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Conway Springs' Kunz, who rushed for 322 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Now that Medicine Lodge knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
