It was a good run, but the Estero Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Cypress Lake 54-48. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Estero in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Estero lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lee Eckman. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 1 assist. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Arrington, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Cypress Lake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Giordan Easely, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals. Easely has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Obang Ochan was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Estero's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Cypress Lake, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-12.
Estero will square off against the Manta Rays at TBD on Thursday. As for Cypress Lake, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Ida Baker is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
