The Howells-Dodge Jaguars will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the West Point-Beemer Cadets at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Howells-Dodge ended up a good deal behind Oakland-Craig and lost 46-30. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Howells-Dodge in their matchups with Oakland-Craig: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Howells-Dodge saw an underclassman step up: Kenadie Throener scored 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Noyd, who scored 4 points.
Meanwhile, West Point-Beemer came up short against North Bend Central on Thursday and fell 45-33.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mia Hunke, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Allie Kaup, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
Howells-Dodge bumped their record down to 2-3 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for West Point-Beemer, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Howells-Dodge have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 32.2% of their threes per game. However, it's not like West Point-Beemer struggles in that department as they've only made 30.8% of theirs this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Howells-Dodge didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against West Point-Beemer in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 49-45 victory. Will Howells-Dodge repeat their success, or does West Point-Beemer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
