Northwestern is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Greenville is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Northwestern extended their postseason success on Friday against Greenwood. They blew past the Eagles, posting a 55-7 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Northwestern, who have now won 11 contests by 25 points or more so far this season.
Finley Polk and Turbo Richard were among the main playmakers for Northwestern as the former threw for 126 yards and three touchdowns and the latter rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Polk is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Jayden Woods made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Greenville narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Greer 24-21.
Greenville can attribute much of their success to Kylar Zimmerman, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown, and Mazeo "mj" bennett, who gained 140 total yards and a touchdown. Zimmerman really tore up the turf during one magnificent 83-yard run.
Northwestern's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Greenville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Northwestern didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Greenville in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 33-28 victory.
