If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Ankeny. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Sioux City North at 7:00 PM. The two teams are strolling into their match after big wins in their previous games.
Ankeny got themselves on the board against Lincoln last Friday, but Lincoln never followed suit. Ankeny were fully in charge, breezing past Lincoln 47-0. Followers of Ankeny probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected three blowout victories.
Meanwhile, their game two weeks ago wasn't at all kind to Sioux City North, but their most recent matchup may have softened the blow. They put the hurt on Hoover with a sharp 48-23 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for Sioux City North as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Their wins bumped Sioux City North to 2-5 and Ankeny to 3-4. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, it will be interesting to see how far up these teams can run up the score.
