Softball Recap: Charlestown Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Charlestown waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Madison Cubs as they made off with a 14-2 win. That's more bragging rights for the Pirates, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Katie Pickerell was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isabella Watkins, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Charlestown's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Madison, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-6 record.

Charlestown has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 loss against Corydon Central on the 6th. As for Madison, they will be playing at home against Salem at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Cubs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
