Olympian-Packerland - Small recap September 17, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Olympian-Packerland - Small this week, Reedsville beat Howards Grove 53-33,. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Oconto scaled the state rankings by moving to 267 from 306 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Blue Devils climbed the ranks as a result of defeating St. Mary Central 42-0.
Hunter Prokash and Sam Koss gave Algoma a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Prokash threw for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Koss ran for 118 yards. Teammate Ben Sealey added to the ground attack by rushing for 101 yards.
Prokash and Koss gave the Wolves a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.
Prokash put up the best numbers in passing as Algoma beat Mishicot. Prokash's favorite target this week was Andrew Gorz, who caught 5 passes for 69 yards.
Koss was the best running back in the league this week.
Alex Thom was the best receiver in Olympian-Packerland - Small this week as Manitowoc Lutheran defeated Hilbert. Thom tallied 4 receptions for 83 yards. Joe Pautz helped Manitowoc Lutheran's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 28 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Ethan Hillmer of the Lancers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 331. He has also thrown 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Eliot Prokash. The Algoma star has 7 catches for 177 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Oconto takes on Wade Vandervest's team. As it stands, David Ruechel's team is in fifth, while the Wolves are in second.
Manitowoc Lutheran was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, Dave Uhlhorn/ Jim Carolfi's team defeated the Wolves 14-6.
