It was a good run, but Vandalia unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roxana Shells. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vandals came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Shells are ranked 287th).

Vandalia's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. As for Roxana, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Vandalia will head out to challenge Carlinville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Roxana, they will be playing at home against Breese Central at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Roxana has won six straight at home dating back to last season, while Breese Central won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
