The Shenandoah Raiders will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Monroe Central Golden Bears at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Shenandoah earned a 45-35 victory over Union County. The victory was just what Shenandoah needed coming off of a 54-23 defeat in their prior contest.
Monroe Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Winchester Community with a sharp 43-19 win on Saturday. Given Monroe Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Winchester Community is ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monroe Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sydney Patterson, who scored 14 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Patterson has scored at least 25% of Monroe Central's points. Kimber Abshear was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
The victory got Shenandoah back to even at 4-4. As for Monroe Central, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
