Basketball Recap: Quinten Koenen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Platte over Sedgwick County

South Platte suffered their biggest defeat since January 2nd on Tuesday. They came up short against the Sedgwick County Cougars, falling 58-37. The Blue Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

South Platte's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quinten Koenen, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Koenen's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Jacobs, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, South Platte fell to 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Platte will take on Leyton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sedgwick County, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Sedgwick County Cougars challenge the Wiggins Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
