Wauconda got a massive performance out of Alyssa Threde, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Threde has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellary Nick, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Wauconda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Grayslake Central came up short against Buffalo Grove on Saturday and fell 18-15.
Kate Davies made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Emma Andrews was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Grayslake Central dropped their record down to 11-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Wauconda, their win bumped their record up to 10-22.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wauconda hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Grayslake Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wauconda couldn't quite finish off Grayslake Central when the teams last played back in April and fell 12-10. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
