Burley and Preston are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Burley Bobcats will head out on the road to take on the Preston Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Burley is ranked 99th, while Preston is ranked 80th).
Burley suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-29 walloping at the hands of Jerome. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Burley in their matchups with Jerome: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Preston came up short against Star Valley on Tuesday and fell 42-30. Preston has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Preston's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ellie Nelson, who scored eight points along with three steals, and Maycie Knapp who scored two points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Burley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Preston, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Burley came up short against Preston in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 42-38. Can Burley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
