Basketball Recap: Cole Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cole won the last time they faced Marion and things went their way on Friday too. The Cole Cougars walked away with a 63-56 victory over the Marion Bulldogs. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on three straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cole to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayvin Ybarra, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 22 points along with five boards and four steals. Those 22 points gave Ybarra a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Beckstrom, who went 7 for 12 en route to 20 points and six rebounds.

Cole was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaiden Riley, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points and seven boards. Riley is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Travis Randle was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.

Cole's record is now 18-7. As for Marion, they moved to 18-6 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Randolph the next time they take the court. Marion will head out to face Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Cole will host them at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th.
