The Cascade Cadets will face off against the Avon Orioles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cascade has four straight wins, Avon has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Cascade beat Edgewood 5-2.

Lacie Godby made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Tara Gruca was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Avon came up short against Danville on Friday and fell 11-6.
Regan Cooper was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Cascade's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Avon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Avon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cascade has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. It's a different story for Avon, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Cascade's hitters?
Cascade skirted past Avon 9-8 in their previous matchup on Saturday. Do the Cadets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Orioles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
