Baseball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Campbellsport

Campbellsport won against Laconia on Friday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Cougars beat the Central Wisconsin Christian Crusaders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-2. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Crusaders, too.

Owen Bong spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Nolan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jace Goebel, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

The victory made it two in a row for Campbellsport and bumps their season record up to 12-3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Central Wisconsin Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Coming up, Campbellsport will challenge Omro at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central Wisconsin Christian, they are taking a road trip to face off against Horicon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Marshmen have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
