Basketball Recap: Griffin Prevett Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat First Baptist Academy

After losing to First Baptist Academy the last time they met, Westfair Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Westfair Christian took down First Baptist Academy 39-21 on Friday. Given Westfair Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while First Baptist Academy is ranked 594th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westfair Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Griffin Prevett led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. Prevett is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Prevett, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Westfair Christian's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for First Baptist Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Westfair Christian will take on Quincy HomeSchool in a holiday battle at at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Westfair Christian's defense has only allowed 27.1 points per game this season, so Quincy HomeSchool's offense will have their work cut out for them. First Baptist Academy and Lebanon will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
