The Arcata Tigers will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Rancho Cotate Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Arcata focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Thursday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Arcata proved. They came out on top against Eureka by a score of 44-33.
It was another big night for Dayquan Dunn, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 20 rebounds. Luke Lemke was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Rancho Cotate posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 66-38 win over Healdsburg. With that victory, Rancho Cotate brought their scoring average up to 50.7 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rancho Cotate to victory, but perhaps none more so than Decimus Shaw, who scored 12 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Pengel, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The win got Arcata back to even at 9-9. As for Rancho Cotate, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
Arcata beat Rancho Cotate 65-55 in their previous matchup back in December of 2017. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Rancho Cotate's Connor Barbato, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
