The St. Charles East Fighting Saints made easy work of the Lemont Lemont HS on Saturday and carried off a 7-1 victory. The Fighting Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Makayla Van Dinther was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Wolf, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
St. Charles East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.
