Heritage is 8-2 against South-Doyle since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mountaineers will be playing at home against the Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. Heritage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
15 must be Heritage's lucky number: they beat Bryan Station with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Mountaineers blew past the Defenders 15-3. Considering the Mountaineers have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Hudson Brown tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Gaven French and Ethan Marcum did most of the damage at the plate: French scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Marcum went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave Marcum a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Sanders, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Heritage was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, South-Doyle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 5-2 to Madison Southern.
Heritage has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for South-Doyle, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11-1.
South-Doyle's pitching crew better be locked in on Monday. Heritage hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. It's a different story for South-Doyle, though, as they've been averaging only 0 home runs. Will they be able to keep Heritage in the park?
Heritage came out on top in a nail-biter against South-Doyle in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Mountaineers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cherokees turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
