The Mayer Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 67-60 win over Phoenix Day School for the Deaf. Mayer's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Phoenix Day School for the Deaf's loss came despite strong showings from Anthony Flores and Donovan Etheridge. Flores scored 15 points along with seven assists and four steals, while Etheridge dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Etheridge has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kotu Salih, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Mayer's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-4. As for Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Mayer will face off against Salome at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Allowing an average of 58.3 points per game, Salome has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup. As for Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, they will be playing at home against Lincoln Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
