It was another big night for Amare Gills, who rushed for 150 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also caught one touchdown. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Northampton County is 4-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-6 otherwise. William Whitaker was in the mix as well, providing the Jaguars with two scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Northampton County proved: they limited Lejeune to a paltry 0.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Ryan Harding for the heroic effort on defense: he. Northampton County's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.91 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 8.13 on average over their last five games.
Northampton County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Whitaker and Forgan Joyner. Whitaker got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Manteo suffered their biggest loss since October 25, 2024 two weeks ago. They had to suffer through a 43-7 loss at the hands of Holmes. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Redskins' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
Northampton County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points over those games. As for Manteo, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Northampton County has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 167.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Manteo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 166.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
