Baseball Game Preview: Soddy Daisy Trojans vs. Wilson Central Wildcats

Soddy Daisy is 2-8 against Wilson Central since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Wilson Central will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Soddy Daisy extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Trojans blew past Signal Mountain 12-6.

Cooper Poe was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other pitching news, Luke Camp looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jake Jackson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The victory made it two in a row for Wilson Central and bumps their season record up to 10-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Soddy Daisy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8-1.
