Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Gaston Day's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Gaston Day's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They took down the Westminster Catawba Christian Indians 59-43. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 54th in North Carolina, while the Indians are ranked 270th in South Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gaston Day found their leader in sophomore Dylan Bradley, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bradley a new career-high in boards. Griffen Simpson was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Westminster Catawba Christian still got an impressive performance from Brycen Redmon, who posted 21 points and three steals. That was a full 48.8% of Westminster Catawba Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Drew Quinn also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Gaston Day is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.
