The Edgewood Mustangs won the last time they faced the Monrovia Bulldogs, and things went their way on Saturday too. Edgewood came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 61-49. The win made it back-to-back wins for Edgewood.
Edgewood had a senior duo take command as Mialin White scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals and Jacob Boggs shot 6-for-7 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Boggs scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Jones, who scored 11 points.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Clay Tharp, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Tharp hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Hayden Najera was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Edgewood's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Monrovia, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Edgewood and the Cougars will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bloomington North has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 374 points over their last five matchups. As for Monrovia, they will head out on the road to face off against the Tiger Cubs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Greencastle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
