The Casa Roble Rams have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 80-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kennedy on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (66), Casa Roble still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Casa Roble still got an impressive performance from Benny Ambriz, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Ambriz scored a full 32.8% of Casa Roble's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Anthony Maher was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Even though they lost, Casa Roble were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only racked up 17 assists.
Leading Kennedy to victory were Dondre Prothro and Aharon Young. Prothro dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds, while Young scored 27 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The match was Young's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Lawrence, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Casa Roble's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Kennedy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.
Casa Roble will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Sunrise Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th. Sunrise Mountain presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Casa Roble in their respective states (Sunrise Mountain is ranked 61st in Nevada, while Casa Roble is ranked 365th in California). Kennedy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fortune Early College at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
