The Belleville West Maroons will head out on the road to face off against the Springfield Southeast Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Belleville West will be strutting in after a win while the Spartans will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Belleville West beat the Indians 57-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Belleville West.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Belleville West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Scott, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylen Byrd, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Springfield Southeast had to suffer through a rough 59-31 loss at the hands of the Titans. While losing is never fun, Springfield Southeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Titans are ranked 63rd).
Belleville West is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-12 record this season. As for Springfield Southeast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-17.
Belleville West came up short against the Spartans when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 68-57. Can Belleville West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
