3A Region 8 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Lauderdale County extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region 8 this week by beating Westminster Christian, 48-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Tigers.
West Morgan made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,074 from 12,343. The advance stemmed from a 56-0 victory over the Rebels last week.
Clements's Marcus McNaughton and Demarcus Johnson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. McNaughton has thrown for 707 yards this season, while Johnson has 10 catches for 270 yards. Demetrius Warren from West Morgan leads the league in rushing with 409 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Colbert County takes on Madison Academy. The Indians are currently in third, while the Mustangs are in second.
Deshler led 3A Region 8 in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Elkmont.
