After flying high against the Steele Canyon Cougars last Wednesday, the Torrey Pines Falcons came back down to earth. Torrey Pines took a 67-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carlsbad. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Torrey Pines in their matchups with Carlsbad: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zach Jackson, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Kail, who scored 14 points.
Torrey Pines' loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Carlsbad, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Torrey Pines will challenge San Dieguito Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Dieguito Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Carlsbad and La Costa Canyon will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in La Costa Canyon's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests.
