Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Normangee). They were the clear victors by a 21-9 margin over the Wortham Bulldogs on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Luis Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Normangee let Wyatt Kimich and R Gafford run wild. Kimich got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs and two RBI, while Gafford got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three RBI. That's the most runs Kimich has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Gough, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.
Normangee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .587. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wortham only posted an OBP of .333.
Normangee's record is now 3-1. As for Wortham, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Looking ahead, Normangee is taking a road trip to square off against Oakwood at 4:30 p.m. on March 3. As for Wortham, they will take on Frost in a tournament on Thursday.
