Basketball Recap: Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Tanner Thompson and Gibson Roberts

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 56-34 to the Elkhorn Valley Falcons. The match marked the Bears' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's loss came despite strong showings from Gibson Roberts and Tanner Thompson. Roberts posted nine points in addition to seven boards and six assists, while Thompson had six points and five rebounds. Those six points gave Thompson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Conner Korth, who put up five points.

Elkhorn Valley was led to victory by Kellyn Ollendick and Korbin Werner. Ollendick went 8 of 17 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and three steals, while Werner dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. Ollendick's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Black, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6. As for Elkhorn Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will venture away from home to challenge Cedar Catholic at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elkhorn Valley, they will host Hartington-Newcastle at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Elkhorn Valley has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 181 points over their last three games.
