The Cedar Valley Aviators scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They secured a 71-67 W over Maple Mountain. The win was a breath of fresh air for Cedar Valley as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Cedar Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hunter Larson out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Heath Christensen, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Maple Mountain lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Matt Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Peterson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Averett, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
The victory got Cedar Valley back to even at 6-6. As for Maple Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Valley will take on Wasatch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Wasatch is ranked 46th, while Cedar Valley is ranked 50th). As for Maple Mountain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Orem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Orem will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
