The Litchfield Purple Panthers entered their tilt with the Gillespie Miners with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Litchfield enjoyed a cozy 70-52 victory over Gillespie on Thursday. Given Litchfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while Gillespie is ranked 686th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Litchfield had a senior duo take command as Keenan Powell scored 19 points and Tate Dobrinich scored 12 points. The matchup was Dobrinich's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor Mcgill, who scored six points.
Litchfield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Gillespie, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Calhoun the next time they take the court. Litchfield will head out to face Calhoun at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Gillespie will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
