The Frankton Eagles posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 victory over Madison-Grant. Given Frankton's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Madison-Grant is ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Frankton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Wright, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Wright is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Moore, who scored 17 points.
Several Argylls players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Teagan Yeagy, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Clayton Hull, who scored 13 points.
Madison-Grant struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Frankton's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Madison-Grant, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frankton will take on Blackford at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison-Grant, they will head out on the road to take on Eastbrook at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
