The Le Roy Oatkan Knights will square off against the Dansville Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Le Roy is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Le Roy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Perry 15-7 on Wednesday. The Oatkan Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Jake Higgins, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Peter Clark was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Le Roy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perry only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Dansville was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wayland-Cohocton.
Dansville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Kendall, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Le Roy pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dansville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Le Roy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Dansville struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Le Roy took their win against Dansville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 19-9 score. Will the Oatkan Knights repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
