Sherwood extended the longest winning streak in 5A Northwest Oregon this week by beating Sandy, 84-42. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Parkrose and St. Helens played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Parkrose eventually emerging with a 12-6 victory.
Wilsonville's dynamic duo of Tyler Carskadon and Ryan Walsh proved tough for Liberty to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Carskadon threw for 68 yards and one touchdown and Walsh had 121 yards receiving. Gunner Pollman helped Wilsonville's passing attack out by catching two balls for 45 yards.
Tanner Shipley provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Wildcats beat the Falcons. He completed one pass for 62 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 177 yards.
Mickey Schaefer was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 221 yards on seven carries as Sherwood defeated Liberty. Teammate Cristian Morris added to the ground attack by rushing for 217 yards.
The Lions' Gage Bumgardner and Tanner Long have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 5A Northwest Oregon in both passing and receiving yards. Bumgardner has thrown for 749 yards this season, while Long, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 24 catches for 368 yards. Adam Guenther's team's Shipley leads the league in rushing yards with 1263.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Greg Lawrence's team takes on Putnam. As it stands, the Bowmen are in first, while the Kingsmen are in fourth.
The Wildcats took down Eric Mahlum's team 52-10 last week, the largest margin of any game. Shipley caught two passes for 17 yards in the win.
