There's no place like home for St. Mary, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  last Friday. They walked away with  an   8-4  win over the Cary Academy Chargers  on Monday. This was a revenge  matchup for St. Mary's, as the team was forced to settle for  a  13-3 defeat when these two played  last Friday.
  Addie Bowen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out six batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   four  hits. Bowen was also big at the plate,  scoring three  runs and  stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  stolen  at least one in the last three games she's  played.
 In other batting news,  Molly Lanahan was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with a  triple, two  RBI,  and a  run.  Jessica Lombardi was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 On Cary Academy's side,  Skyler Jayasooriya made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 3-for-3 with a  home run, a  stolen base,  and two  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Phoebe Shaughnessy, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.
 Even though they lost, Cary Academy  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary's struck out ten times.
 St. Mary's pushed their record up to 5-4 with that  victory, which was their third straight  at home. As for Cary Academy, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost three of their last four games,  which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record  this season.
 St. Mary's will be playing in front of their home fans against GRACE Christian at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. St. Mary's has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Cary Academy, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Ravenscroft at 4:15  p.m.  on Tuesday. Ravenscroft has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.13  runs per game on average), something Cary Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
