The Lakeside Eagles will head out to take on the Colville Indians at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Lakeside came out on top against Riverside on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Rams. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Maxx Clancy was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kannon Almond, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Kyle Phillips was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lakeside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Colville got the win against Kettle Falls on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-4. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Conor Lyng tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Braxton Brown was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Bateman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Lakeside's record now sits at 11-3. As for Colville, their record is now 10-4.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lakeside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .483. However, it's not like Colville struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lakeside skirted past Colville 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
