The St. Joseph Cadets will square off against the Ludlowe Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ludlowe took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Joseph, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, St. Joseph turned things around against Bridgeport Central on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Hilltoppers. That looming 7-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cadets yet this season.
Gavin Rovinelli made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, St. Joseph got a great performance from Martin Mitev as he struck out 16 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Mitev has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Connor Fahey and Jake Rios did most of the damage at the plate: Fahey went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Rios went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Rios a new career-high. Jake Failla was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Ludlowe was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They fell just short of Norwalk by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost four in a row.
Ludlowe saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kieran Scruggs, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-7. As for Ludlowe, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
