The Sidney Yellowjackets will head out to face off against the Butler Aviators at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sidney is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Sidney barely beat Xenia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellowjackets blew past the Buccaneers 12-1 on Monday. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Riley Dillon made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Sidney got a big performance out of Jaida Fisher, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alivia Brown, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Sidney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Butler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 15-1 to Troy.
Butler saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenna Irvin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
Sidney's record now sits at 5-6. As for Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
Butler's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sidney has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. It's a different story for Butler, though, as they've only averaged .329. Will they be able to contain Sidney's hitters?
Everything went Sidney's way against Butler in their previous matchup on Wednesday, as Sidney made off with a 14-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
