After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Central Valley, the St. Edward Beavers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They put the hurt on Cedar Bluffs with a sharp 56-32 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-11.
Anthony Reader was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Marcos Paez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, Cedar Bluffs saw an underclassman step up: Carter Eiring scored 12 points along with three steals. Eiring continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
St. Edward's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Cedar Bluffs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
St. Edward and the Storm will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. High Plains will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Cedar Bluffs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
