It was a good run, but Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They were outmatched by Shenandoah Valley Academy on the road and fell 77-35. While losing is never fun, Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 472nd in Georgia, while Shenandoah Valley Academy is ranked 167th in Virginia).
Randy Sanders and Zaki Parham certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Sanders scored 13 points, while Parham scored 11 points.
Shenandoah Valley Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Browne out in front who scored 19 points along with two steals. Joseph Pelote was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten assists and five rebounds.
Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Shenandoah Valley Academy, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Madison Academy at 1:45 p.m. on January 14th. Shenandoah Valley Academy on the road again on Saturday and play against Georgia-Cumberland Academy at 10:15 p.m. on January 13th. Georgia-Cumberland Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
