Elkin is 2-8 against the Rams since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Elkin Buckin' Elks will be staying on the road to face off against the Starmount Rams at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th.
Last Friday, Elkin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-37 to the Golden Eagles. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elkin in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Starmount came into Friday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Mount Airy by a score of 44-34 on Friday.
Elkin's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Starmount, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15.
Elkin ended up a good deal behind the Rams when the teams last played back in January, losing 43-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Starmount's Molly Swaim, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Now that Elkin knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
